Stains, use a toothbrush, mix in a cup, little white vinegar, water, woolite soap, or dish soap and brush gently .. they come out. You can use an oxyclean sometimes.

If you spell a glass of red wine, Blot the stain This will help you to lift as much wine from the rug as possible. Do not rub the stain. Do about 4 times with water, clean white towel and blot and rinse the towel. Apply the same for dog accident ..

Or simply use the machine, it sprays water and does good Suction.

After a year or 2 years, you can hand wash with cold water. There are a lot of professional cleaners that know how to properly do this work.

Snow cleaning is an excellent way to clean rugs if you live in a snow area. Use only freshly fallen dry snow. Leave the covered rug outside after 30 min broom the snow, and repeat this process  3 times until the dirt comes out.
